Videos of some Electromagnetic Experiments on the Cheap.
My current focus is to demonstrate, with experimently reproducable evidence, a way to produce powerful, efficient and safe propulsion using electromagnetic forces. I am just getting warmed up so at present these are more video tests, than true experiments. However they do demonstrate the concepts of simple pulse forming and amplification, the Hertz measurement of frequency, the concepts of standing wave interference patterns and some videos of real electromagnetic field propulsion. Expect some more exotic things in the future.
A video of the occilloscope, 13V 3A power supply, 555 based variable frequency and variable pulse width circuit, two amplifier stages( first stage common transistor totem pole, second stage is two fan cooled parrellel IRF510 mosfets, and an old 300 watt speaker( with a pan on it ).

The spark rotates around due to the influence of a large magnet. The rotation is not perfect because the magnet is not very strong and the current is not very high. Air movement due to heat also effects the movement at these low powers. Yes, I am using a tuna can again as the top electrode, but the image is dark so you can't see it this time. Talk about magnetoplasmadynamics on a budget. The video below, shows what you can do with slightly more expensive equipment.
Electronic Schematic for Small Scale Electromagnetic Propulsion
For those interested this is the electronic schematic for the circuit used in these videos.
The circuit is a pulse generator with independant pulse width control and pulse frequency control, using only one 555 timer. This signal drives a two stage amplifier for increased current output capable of driving high voltage coils.
Interesting Experiments Done by Others
A classic experiment demonstrating the effect of magnetic fields on falling objects, especially in the presence of conducting material.
The data available by experimenting with the setup above, undeniably shows the effect is greatest when two opposing magnets are attached together. This causes the greatest degree of external magnetic field, by forcing the magnetic field outside the magnets themselves, so the Lenz forces are much stronger. This simple experiment proves there is an indirect relationship between magnetic fields and the gravitational field.
How to levitate a magnet using two moving conductors.
This experiment is one of the most unique ways to levitate a magnet. The magnet hovers over two rapidlly rotating metal cylinders. It is a demonstration of mechanical motion inducing eddy currents in the metal, which repels the magnet inducing the current. The counter-rotating cylinders create two opposing fields, holding the magnet in place.
How to violate Earnshaw's theorm with permanent magnets and diamagnetic material.
Once again the mathematics fails to account for all situations. This experiment is impossible according to Earnshaw's theorm, which states no stable repuslion can be created between permanent magnets. Another method to overcome Earnshaw's theorm is the Levitron toy which uses gyroscopic forces to acheive stability.
